Jeff Rhein, LPCC

Jeff Rhein is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with 25 years of experience who has worked across crisis, outpatient, and educational settings. He earned a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling from Wright State University in 2000 and began his clinical career providing crisis counseling at a county jail. That early work grew into roles on crisis response teams conducting prehospital screenings and into outpatient practice where he treated a range of mental health and substance use concerns.

Over the years Mr. Rhein has led trainings on crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and clinical supervision, and he has spent 17 of the last years supervising other clinicians. He also teaches crisis intervention at the graduate level, bringing classroom and field experience together to support developing professionals. His background blends hands-on crisis response with long-term outpatient care, offering experience with both acute situations and ongoing treatment needs.

Jeff combines evidence-informed approaches with practical skills development to help individuals navigate stress, addiction, mood concerns, relationship challenges, and career transitions. He works with people facing grief, burnout, first responder issues, and other complex stressors, drawing on years of direct service and training experience to tailor care to each personâs needs.

Therapeutic Approaches and Online Support

Jeff Rhein uses evidence-informed methods to guide online work, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Therapy, as well as Motivational Interviewing. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on identifying patterns of thought and behavior that contribute to emotional distress and then developing practical strategies to change those patterns; it is commonly used for anxiety, depression, panic, and mood regulation. Mindfulness Therapy teaches present-focused awareness and nonjudgmental attention to thoughts and sensations, which can reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and support coping with grief or burnout. Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, client-centered way of exploring ambivalence and strengthening intrinsic motivation for change, often used in work around substance use and lifestyle shifts.
